They're Out There: Terrence F. (Unsigned) - Artist Feature

Okay so...

As far as I remember; I came across the Fontana, CA native Terrence F. (Franklin through a random Twitter link to his Bandcamp page, sometime back in 2010. From there I realized that I had fell upon some dope Hip-Hop shit, to say the least. Full of story-telling, bravado, real life shit, over ill production.

The first track I actually recall hearing was "Casual", a laid back jazzy piece, off of his debut project 'This Beautiful Mind', #DOPE. Terrence no only raps but he also produces his own music, something that may be seen as a common feat now but nothing about his style of production is common in this current climate of Hip-Hop. To put it simply, Terrence can make beats that have the raw smoothness of the 90s Golden Era but still possess the futuristic like qualities of today's production. Terrence continued to excel with this formula on his second 'tape ;Part 2... The Dream State', with stand out tracks such as, "Build & Destroy", "The Deficiency", "Detail" ft. Stevie Crooks & "4:24 AM" ft. Exquisite, which are also some of my favorites.

But what's more dope about both projects, Terrence gave some insight into the process of their creations during a somewhat frustrated semi-"Twitter Rant", which we all have done in some way or another. He spoke about some of his troubles finding support from his family & friends while being a "striving artist". He then went on to reveal that both projects were recorded and mix in their entirety, in his car. Considering the quality of the finally product that made everything about these projects that much more special. True adversity & Honest results. #GOODSHIT

Terrence also has production credits for Stevie Crooks' "Legs & Liquor Stores" from his Diamonds & Guns project. Terrence is currently working on his next project 'Heart of Fire', which is assumed to be released in 2011. Just recently he released a new song "Downtown Again" via Twitter, that may or may not be apart of 'HOF'. Check it out below. Along with his Mixtape links...

"All Black Everything" explores a fantasy, described across the first two verses and the chorus, about what the world would be like without slavery and racism. The song possesses one line after another that concisely paints this thought-provoking picture. For example: Africans stay in Africa, no slaves, no misery, no reconstructions, no Civil War, black woman voted the head of Ku Klux Klan, Malcom X dies an old man with Martin Luther King Jr. reading his eulogy, and a few references (or right jabs?) to Bill O'Reilly, President Bush, and FOX News to boot... and that's just the chorus and the first verse. The second verse imagines a world with no racism, no conscious hip hop because 'crack never happened', and contains references to Fred Astaire, The Rat Pack, and Eminem, amongst others. Lu is opening up our minds by re-analyzing the past in such an abstract fashion, but it's in the final verse where he recognizes we can't change the past. He goes on to express a call to action in the last verse that we can form our own future for a better world until 'we just close our eyes 'til it's all black every-thing!'. But it was her song "Falling Head First" that really pulled me in, everything about it is so free and just itself. She self describes her music as " a hippie making music in a blues club", which is much better than I could've put it.

In 2008, Mayaeni signed to Universal via Custard Records.

Finally, after over half a decade of delays, "beefs", label switches and retirements; Saigon will release his long awaited debut album "The Greatest Story Never Told". As highly anticipated as it was when "C'mon Baby" (and it's Jay-Z assisted Remix) was released, to as cold as ice it got after his Atlantic Records departure, Saigiddy has still managed to put together a very well received album.

It's been an amazing journey for an album that was so doomed and seemingly correctly titled, to gaining a release date to now being only hours away from being released. The Yardfather is to be commended for sticking it out and rescinding his 2 weeks notice on Hip-Hop to now seeing the benefits of his hard work.

I know I will definitely be PURCHASING this album. And you should too, it should be a story not to be soon forgotten.

The Greatest Story Never Told available in stores and iTunes on Feb. 15, 2011.

Today the axe was brought down on one of (formerly) most successful franchises in recent gaming memory, for being... not so successful anymore.

Today Activision Blizzard announced that it will "disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit" due to the declining interest in the music genre. The company has ceased development on its previously planned 2011 Guitar Hero game.

You had to figure the genre would lose interest sooner or later. Had a good run, too bad I sucked at it.

The 'Hollywood and Asian cinema style' inspired action thriller True Crime: Hong Kong was also halted in its production.
